Promenade Flat Roof with Insulation


General

The upstands should be painted with bitumen primer (B) to a height that would be at least 150mm above the top of the finished screed (A) and 45° fillets placed against the upstands.

  1. A vapour check/barrier (C) consisting of Roofstar 40200 or Vaporex 4 Al+VV should be loose laid on the concrete deck (A) with 80mm longitudinal and 150 mm transverse laps fully torched. The sheet should be brought to the top of the primed area of the upstand and torched on.
  2. The insulation board (D) is loose laid.
  3. A layer of Dermabit 30160 (E) is loose laid with 80mm longitudinal and 150 mm transverse laps fully torched. The sheet should be brought to the top of the upstand and torched to the vapour check (C).
  4. A cap sheet of Casali Cermabit Extra 4170 (F) is fully torched to the underlay (E) and the upstands. Care being taken to stagger the laps.
  5. A layer of polyester fleece (G) or similar rot-proof material is loose laid over the cap sheet (F) and a sand and cement screed (H) of at least 40mm tapered to falls poured on top, preferably reinforced with welded wire mesh.

If self adhesive plastic Grantiles are going to be torched on the screed (H) it should be painted with bitumen primer otherwise the screed should be protected with concrete slabs mounted on plastic slab supports.
